Differentiation Activity

Students can use either real geoboard, a representation or a geoboard, or a virtual geoboard to play the square game.  Students start by spinning a spinner to find out if they will add a parallel or perpendicular line. Students must will try to make a small square.  When they complete a square, they can claim it.  The student with the most claimed squares is the winner.

You can make it more challenging by letting students create any length of line, not just all the way across.

Module 3 Lesson 6
Differentiation Activity

Take a standard number cube and make the one a seven.  Students place ten counters on their own number chart.  They roll the dice and determine if the number rolled is a factor of a number that is covered.  If it is, the student can remove the counter.  If they have more than one, they can only remove one counter at a time.  The first student to remove all their counters is the winner!
