Differentiation Activity
Students draw two cards and roll a dice to make mixed numbers. They then find the difference between the two and compare with their partner. The student with the greatest difference scores a point for that round. The winner is the student who has the most points after 5 rounds.

Mixed Number Difference Game

Differentiation Activity
Students will take the support page and separate the fractions into two piles. One pile for less than 4 and one with more than 4. They take turns drawing from each pile and finding the difference between the two mixed numbers. After 5 rounds, the students add up all their differences and the student with the greatest difference is the winner.

They will solve their equation using partial products and compare with their partner. The student who has the largest product scores 1 point. The student with the most points after 5 rounds wins.
After Lessons 4&5, they can draw for a 4 by 1 equation.
